We were once required to wear only dresses or skirts

Don’t change yourself for a guy

“Who needs a man anyway” 

We were once independent

What happened to protesting for the right to vote

What happened to wanting to be treated right

We were once independent, but in a society like today...

Women cry

Women drown

Women fall

We put makeup on to make you smile

We dress ourselves up to show you we care

We care enough to get dressed up

But you don’t care

You don’t see

Why should we sacrifice our strength for your needs

When we could be fighting for our equal rights

For the diversity to end

In the end we still are divided but you don’t see

Our independence rising

We stand together like they did back then

When one gets harassed we all get harassed

Imagine how that makes us feel

Being mistreated

We are all one in this world of division

Does it have to be like divergent

Where they make us feel different

Why does it matter if you're a female

Can’t we play in MLB

Can’t we play baseball too?

It doesn’t matter what we look like

It matters what gender we are

Hurt.

Angry.

Frustrated.

Dark.

In the end we strive for the diversity to end

For gender inequality to die

As we drown in a society like today

Why should we care what we look like
