For Women Who Are Difficult to Love

We sleep on the edge of our beds to feel as if we’re confined in fetal position

like our mothers will accompany us another 273 days

We drown in our own tears

staring at blank white walls looking for the purity in love we’ve haven’t experienced

known for our mighty mouths and unknown self explanatory problems

We search for answers and hims

but always left with hanging questions marks that resemble the curves he indented with

with his word’s “dic"tion

in the end

We settle for one night stands and the imprints of his hands

a reminder

that we are easy to maneuver in

but still too “difficult" to love

tell me does he try to tame you?

compares you to a nonexistent sky

to every object beyond the bounds of possibility

he has you vanishing into supposition

clinging to abandoned promises

clenching for respect

like turbulent winds

he holds and consoles you

with your own emptiness

you feel like nothing without him

and with him you don’t feel a thing

you are deprived my love

descending into the bodies of

insubstantial

temporary homes with

shattered windows

and withered doors

where your welcome has no greeting

but his words feel like your pillow

and his kiss swallows like your sheets

you are suffocating and breathing at the same time

closing your eyes to forget today and yesterday

ready to leave it all

let you

let him

you are something not everyone understands how to love
