For Women Who Have Been Wronged
She sits there upon her throne,
a smile on her face, but sadness
in her eyes. A Queen with no power,
with no voice.
It is not unusual, this sight before me –
A Queen alone but surrounded.
I will see many women with no power,
with no voice.
And to those women who do claim
the power before them – they will not
let it go. Not until long after their bodies
wither away.
They will face their adversaries,
the men who challenge their divine right.
But their legacies, those will never
wither away.
By crown, by smile, by bone –
they are defined by madness.
No Queen is a wilting flower
with no choice.
I wish I could not see
these words that are said.
For many Queens are flowers,
with no voice.
I wish respect was offered the same
to Queens as they are to Kings; not
Queens respected only has bodies.
For carrying on the line.
These women, these beautiful seas
that lead us through winds of plight.
They will never
be refused the title divine.
