Wonder
I look at the sky in wonder, What is life like beyond the stars?
I look around to see no one. Only the palm trees swaying to the lull of the wind.
They are like people in many ways I thought. So are we really alone?
The cool, winter breeze lightly brushes against my skin as I sit in wonder.
Stuck in the abyss of my mind.
The moon is looming above me, staring down at me.
She is beautiful. Her surface is glowing
. But her eyes tell another story.
I look down at the drawings of red on my skin.
Why do I always feel alone when I'm not?
The rustling of the nearby bushes catch my attention.
'Fear and loneliness are deadly traps of the mind' The wind whispered.
I must be lost in my mind, again.
I remain screaming for help on the inside.
But in reality I am smiling.
It's amazing how much thinking you could do on a cold winter night.
