Wonder
I’ve always wondered what it’s like
to have less families torn apart,
to lose the addiction of drama
or demolish constant discrimination,
but that won’t happen.
I've always wondered what it’s like
to come home welcomed with a smile and warm hug,
to see a meal presented at the table
or to be able to rest my head on a proper pillow,
but that won’t happen.
I’ve always wondered what it’s like
to have moral respect for others,
to escape this materialistic lifestyle
or see the world through someone else’s eyes,
but that won’t happen.
I’ve always wondered what it’s like
to be in the norms of society,
to view the idea of body image positively
or to go back to the innocence of youth,
but that won’t happen.
I’ve always wondered what it’s like
to have a special someone in my life,
to talk to someone without having them judge me
or look at a person and see them for themselves,
but that won’t happen.
I’ve always wondered what it’s like
to look in a mirror and truly say “I like me,”
to be able to look a person in the eye with pride
or to not compare myself to others,
but that won’t happen.
But if we look a little clearer,
If we dig a little deeper,
see a little brighter,
we might be able to.
It just might happen.
