Wonder

I wonder about you.

I wonder if that smile is genuine,

or if you force your muscles

To make up a lie.

I wonder if your golden waves

Were created by mother nature’s gentle hand,

Or the harsh heat of a curling iron each morning.

I wonder if your friends

are really your friends,

Or if they only like you

because you’re young, beautiful,

And the best actress they’ve ever met.

I wonder if your friends

could be my friends

if I could act, too.
