Wonderland

Wonderland is the place I visit in my dreams

The place to hide from the terrors

The place I get to be myself and (gasp) no one cares!

This place… I have everything I want (except the truth)

I have everyone I love (except my lover)

I have everything I need (except comfort)

Wonderland and it’s terrible beauty! Oh, the escape - I dread to love it

Yet - what escape is there?

The land of dreams? Nightmares? Reality?

No.

Dreams are fake; they ooze with desperation

Nightmares are too real; I live them when I’m not sleeping

Reality? Are you kidding me?

Do you know what I’ve been through?

Maternal abandonment leaves forever scars

Put on a happy face

Let no one in

Shut them all out, close the blinds, lock the doors

If you them in, they can hurt you

If you don’t, you’re all alone

Hurt and scarred?

Or, alone and haunted?

The choices you make will define you

Left, or Right in Wonderland?
