The Wondrous Power of Language and Poetry
Words are like people,
there is depth that can't be seen when you first encounter them.
Connotations never reveal themselves,
the words have to be given context, or explained;
you never fully understand a word, as it may be seen differently by another.
Which is bigger, a smile or a grin?
They're synonymous, yet each one gives you a different image.
Somehow, a "cabin in the woods" sounds menevolent and malicous,
while "cottage in the forest" provides thoughts of a cute little grandma.
The wondrous power of language means that you change the meaning of an story,
the moment you believe that the blue curtains symbolize sadness over peace
is the moment that changes everythng.
The duality of words is breathtaking, what may be devastating to someone
can provoke only apathy in another.
Poetry all depends on the individual
Reading and creating are such personal experiences,
its no wonder there is miscommunication between them.
How can you understand what you have never known?
