A woodsman’s axe
I use a woodsman’s axe for many things.
For all the ease of use it brings.
A axe short enough to pack,
But long enough to give trees a good whack.
A woodsman’s axe, is a multipurpose tool.
Capable of doing small jobs, and not too cruel.
Stranded but living with no fear;
Woodworking makes shelter appear.
The back of the axe for hammering,
and the blade to make my chert rock start sparking.
Hammering the shelters stake posts,
And starting a fire to have a roast.
Preparing snared game with ease,
And mixing meat with fresh honey from nearby bees.
Adding foraged greens and making a soup,
So after a long days of work the body can recoup.
Living on an island at ease,
Is as gentle as the ocean breeze.
As long as you work with nature
You will be away from life threatening danger.
A woodsman’s axe makes being on an island stranded,
A place to have your heart and mind expanded.
