That Word

That word is strong                                                     Sometimes things get messy

Never to be used when mad                                       sometimes things go wrong

Never to be confused with feelings                            but if you don’t say that word

Such as angry or sad                                                   I promise you’ll still get along

That word can cause riot                                             I’ve learned from experience

That word can cause change                                       and trust me you’ll learn

That word can lead to disappointment                       no matter the situation

And cause so much pain                                             its best not to use that word

Why use it at all                                                          the consequences can be dire

Why not forgive and forget                                        when that word is used

Just say you’re sorry                                                   but especially so

And live and let live                                                   if its use is abused

Why go through the trouble                                        I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again

Of saying that word                                                    that there’s a word we need to abate

It makes no sense                                                        and that word of words is of course

It’s really absurd                                                         none other than the word hate

If you’re mad, walk away

If you don’t like someone don’t be friends

But don’t use that word

Because that’s how bad things begin

I promise it will stop

I promise it will fade

The pain in your heart

Will eventually go away

No use calling names

No use saying mean things

No matter how bad it looks

It’s not as bad as it seems

If someone does something wrong

And your blood boils with rage

It’s best not to talk to them

Or that word might set the stage
