The Word

Frozen in place, stuttering across words,

I stand amongst the masses of judges.

Whether or not I leave this place’s ward,

Lies on my speech, my thoughts, my look.

Descending the depths, my brain is shocked

By eyes staring like raccoons in the night.

Their minds yearning, while positions locked,

Digesting every word I spout.

Like a ladder rope lifted my soul,

I realize they’ve been listening,

Not with any sort of malicious goal,

But in order to vitalize their lives.

What do I have to fear when I know they,

My peers, would love to hear the Word.
