Word Association
Just another game inside your head
Words jumping back and forth in your brain
One thing springing to another
Fall, winter, summer, school
Favorite class? Favorite subject?
Subject turned sour
Sweet tea made from flowers
Petals used for higher purpose
Love me yes, love me not
Now your heart is in a flutter
Oh boy, your desk is cluttered
Books and papers stacked on high
Reading always passes time by
Young to old, Old to death
The ones who miss are the ones who’re left
You know you are now alone
And yet never really
There’s always something when things are dreary
The sky is dark, the clouds are black
The rain comes down
Soaking the ground
Turn around
Dancing, twirling, whirling, curling
Unfurling wings of unending glory
Everything connected in one way or another
No thought is made without the other
Just a game inside your head
Word Association that must eventually end
Begun in fun but always lost
For winning would mean
That you never look back
