Word Love

I used to write just because I was good When it came to math my skills never stood I used to write because it came easy When it came to science, my stomach would go queasy I used to write to get away, To escape my world just for a day I used to write to calm my nerves, I loved the calming shapes of letters; Their slopes and their curves I write today because I need to My future clings to each word I make, I worry that my major may be a mistake Today I write because of love, Words are all I ever think of I write to express what my mouth refuses to audibly say I write to let my demons out to play Writing means I am still here, Words are all I can still hold dear. Trying to prove my burning desire To ignite the love of words to someone else’s fire
