The Words

I write because the words give me no rest.

They are voices in my mind

and they pester and whine

to be set

free

They are soldiers

waging war

their battle cries both

music and

torture

to hear

They are birds

locked in a cage

and I cannot set them free fast enough

They are children

and in their

innocence and

wildness

there is beauty

They are words

and they give me no rest.
