Words

I’m not here to give you fancy words

or rhymes and riddles that make you think

I just write to get my thoughts on paper

No matter what you all say.

You claim I could write for the people

Instigate rebellion

or ignite a fire

with words like “Justice”

“Freedom”

and i suppose that is true

but writing like that is for the hot

the Passionate

not someone like me

too indifferent

too cold and just a bit too jaded

to believe

‘Cause the world gave up

on teaching me how to feel

You claim i could write for the little ones

Calming fears

or rocking to sleep

with words like “Sweet”

“Lullaby”

and I suppose that's true

but writing like that is for the nurturing

the Gentle

not someone like me

a bit too hard

too callous and just a bit too downtrodden

to care

‘Cause the world gave up

on teaching me how to feel

So like i said

i only write the way I know how

to get my thoughts on the paper

take them as you will.
