To the words

A small tribute I make to the words
That hurt and healed my soul.
They've pecked at me like birds
Then patched and made me whole.
Though at times limited
They draw my thoughts onto the page;
Though at time corrupted
Have endured many an age
They are spun into phrases and woven into books
Filling the minds and spaces
Of those who dare to look
They can dark vice pursues

Or be lights that lead to virtue
