Words

"Gay", "Straight", "Confederate", "Union",
"United", "Pride", "Religion", "Flags".
These words, all have one thing in common.
They are WORDS! Words that we humans let determine who we are.
We let these WORDS run the course of our lives.
Dividing us when we should stay together.
But why?
Because we humans want nothing more but,
to conform to what society wants us to be.
We want nothing more than to be accepted by others.
When we do that, are we truly happy?
Is it true happiness when we make others happy?
These words, that are just words, break us apart.
Break us like sticks and stones to glass!
Gay? Who cares, love you because you are yourself.
Straight? Cool, just don't persecute the gays
for being different because they are really not.
You found love happiness, let them be happy too.
Confederate? History, the past not the present.
Don't rewind but fast forward.
Union? Also history.
Pride? Can be good or, can be trouble.
Religion? A passage, a way of life and
can be a weapon for persecution.
Flags? Symbols, a piece of cloth.
Cloth that we humans give meaning to.
WORDS! We humans give meaning and power to these words,
the words that run our lives.
"Sticks and stone may break my bones but words may never hurt."
Lies, Words are daggers stabbing
you in every direction.
