Words

 For me,

Words are

The rounds

In the only gun that I’m allowed to own

Or yellow bricks

The only ones I’m allowed to throw.

I rip them out from under my feet

And throw them at glass houses

Because I like the way the light refracts

Into something more beautiful than pain.

Words are also

Bricks in the only house I’m allowed to build

But that takes so much longer,

It is so much heavier to bear pain

And push out healing

So that is a quest

I am still working on.
