With Words

Inside When you see rain you can't feel it You can't feel the rain kiss your face Or the water build up around your feet You can't feel the water seeping through your shirt Soaking not only your body but your soul But inside When you read And inside When you write You don't only feel it You are it You are the wind flying through the leaves You are the rain running through the air You are the clouds floating aimlessly But with a purpose With words You are everything With words You can be anything You can live in far away worlds With zombies and unicorns and aliens You can have purple skin Or be made of tin With words you can be who you want You can love who you choose And you can dress how you feel With words Life has a new meaning A new message Words taught me how to experience life How to close my eyes And feel the world moving around me To feel the life beating within me To live in a world buzzing with life and love How to stand in the rain and feel it Not only on the outside But in my bones In my body In my very being Words taught me how to survive being chewed up and spit out by life How to get back up and still be me Despite the world changing around me With words
