Words

Words

As I walk down the hall way my book bag high and my head low.

Yes I hear you, but I continue to walk. You don’t understand that

Every letter in every word you say rings in my ears with hurt I mask the pain and protest it’s not there

but I know the truth and yet still I hurt.

Yes I know I’m not perfect, but who really is?

In my eyes I’m a beautiful queen, but yet you tell me otherwise

you can point out all my flaws but what about my perfections

thebsying goes sticks and stones break bones but words never hurt

that’s a lie they may not break bones, but they break hearts and spirits

putting me and a familiar place I know to well dealing with my ups and downs from the words

that slipped between your lips. With my heart torn and the world revealed so cold as I sit in an abandoned park.

the swings without a squeak, the ball rolls with no child to bounce it, the jump ropes lay abandoned.

the innocence in the world taken by the flicking of a judgmental tounge.

Yet still I hurt because every letter in every word I say rings in my ears with hurt. Choose your words carefully.
