The Words and the Rhymes

Have you heard? Have you heard? Of the rhythm and the word? Before you know, it’s all there You breathe it in like a distant new air You take it all in like a Sunday prayer Suddenly the words all just poured out The heavy feelings, the scream, the shout All of a sudden I just knew what it was all about It was the words There was no class, no introduction It all came together in this beautiful conjunction I was so alive I was so in love Set me free; let me fly like a dove The words are endless, the words are bliss I’ve been struck by that lyrical kiss It moves me It feels me Do you see? It is not my love for the words; it’s the word’s love for me Words are the ribbons that tie together When you think you’ll shatter to pieces, they say “Never!” They hold me up, they are like wings When I do my rhymes I hear the angels sing The rhyming words move me One day the words will write me, explain me, capture me and tell the world MY LEGACY
