Words Of Gratitude

I’ve had some mentores I adored and had others who left me bored

to pick just one is a hefty task but thankfully I chose to bask

In the glory of every story

Pops told me night or morning I payed attention never snoring

Through his advice I started scoring so wrestling matches we started recording

When writing rhymes he helped me too as  if he gets everything I aspire to do

Gave me wisdom whenever I need so all my doubts could be deleted

He showed me that I’d meet defeat and mistakes shouldn’t repeat

He said every loss hides a lesson son try your best in every session

He showed me how to topple each peak and made sure I progressed each week

If I hit a hurdle we’d sit and tweak he also made sure I wasn’t scared to be unique

Put your mind to every goal see through the fumes from burning coal

find the spark that ignites your soul work and grind to pay the toll

Son time is valuable I’m sure you know there's no need to rush find your flow

Move at the pace that is your own before you know it you’ll also be grown

This is a poem to honor the man who helped me write the blueprints to each plan

When things got dark you showed me the fire after each of our talks you’d always inspire

Now I have the will to  fight for what I desire I was aimed at the top but now I’ll reach higher
