Words Have Kept Me Alive

I just want to tell everyone to f*** off
so I can go read tumblr poetry and loose
myself in other people’s feelings
The written word lives inhabits every part of my body
Deep in my bowels
Comprising every nerve ending in my brain
Even in the minuscule bits of DNA that mysteriously
reside in the mitochondria
And words are the very fuel
For the contractions of my septum
That cause my heart to beat.
Sending letter-choked streams of blood
Into the farthest reaches of my self
Those pieces of me
Are what allow my body to function
To maintain that glorious state of homeostasis
Therefore,
words must live inside those pieces too
Working just as hard
If not harder
In the unforgivable business
of keeping my soul alive
