Words of the Heart

Darkness will consume the words of my heart.

The words yearn to be set free from it all;

But they won’t escape no matter how smart.

The words of the heart can feel oh so small.

The words of the heart are the words of truth.

The words of the heart can pierce through the pain.

However these words can hurt the youth.

Sometimes the words of the heart must be slain.

The words of the heart can ruin a day.

But these words of the heart hold great power.

The power of these words can carve the way;

For those who would usually cower.

Who can protect me from these words so true?

If no one, will they reach their demise too?
