Words Hurt

The comments, I brush off.

Or so you think.

Little do you know,

I carry them on my back,

Like a thousand bricks

Threatening to crush me

Something broke me that day.

Not just my confidence,

But the life inside of me.

The once bonfire,

Now a flame of a candle,

Slowly flickering to an end.

I’m not hungry I convince myself

When my stomach growls.

When the pain subsides,

It’s really not that bad.

One more meal skipped.

Whatever it takes

To get those numbers where I’d like

Eventually they notice

I have grown thin.

Telling me they're worried.

About me.

About my health.

You didn’t worry

What your words caused

To my health months prior.

So why now?

If you think about it..

This is the aftermath

Of your doing.

You created this dark pit inside of me,

This insecurity.

This anxiety.
