The Words I Never Said

I still remember when I saw you

Sweat so sweet and eyes so bright

My heart froze instantly at your sight

But my head knew what you would do

I still remember when you said my name

How could the average sound so strange?

My heart melted because of you

But my head knew what you would do

When I try to speak back,

It was the absence of sound

Seeing you was a heart attack

Courage is what I never found

Frustrated, alone, late in the night

You weren’t here, so away I’d write

Late to the a.m., my hands would be dead

Only the moon knew the words I never said

Just how damaged three years can make a soul

How angry and tired could I become?

For the lack of courage I had to promises

A lack of personality to show to you, Adonis

You give me life

You give me death

You take my strife

You take my breath

When I try to speak back,

It was the absence of sound

Seeing you was a heart attack

Courage is what I never found

Frustrated, alone, late in the night

You weren’t here, so away I’d write

Late to the a.m., my hands would be dead

Only the moon knew the words I never said

Only the moon could hear my confession

Of a love drunk dumb fuck’s obsession

Only the moon saw my tears

That came from all fears

What if? Is a dangerous disease

What if you hate me?

What if you leave me?

What if you stay with me?

What if you care for me?

For that fear, I held my head high

That final year before our goodbye

I told you new words, the moon didn’t hear

About how I loved you and your dear

Words of confession but words of admiration

To showcase how I’d leave the obsession

If you’d only give me a chance, you see?

Maybe there was still time for you and me

Not out of lust and not out of desire

But out of trust and out of admirable fire

Your promises seemed so golden

But I just bit into a fool’s gin

The words I had and the words I said

I thought would change our broken thread

But I was a fool to ever believe

There was ever going to be a you and me

Everyone saw the outcome

Everyone saw the reality

I never saw your true face

Never saw your true personality

Frustrated, alone, late in the night

You weren’t here, so away I’d write

Late to the a.m., my hands would be dead

Only the moon knew the words I never said

Late in the dark, pen and paper where I laid

Only the moon knew the words I never said

Late in the a.m., tears would fade

Only the moon knew the words I never said
