THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK

I too am the darker brother

sitting there,

like everyone else.

Waiting for my chance,

like everyone else.

They’ve said I won’t make it,

I’ll end up like the rest,

but what they don’t know is

there is know such thing as “The Best”.

They’ll judge you

by the things you did,

but being white don’t make you smart,

being black don’t make you stupid.

Maybe one day,

when they’ve reached their peak,

hopefully they’ll understand

the words that I speak.
