Words of Me

To speak quite frankly, I am only me when I'm free. Outside of school walls, outside of essays When my hand can say what it feels. I am only me when I'm free. Writing gives this to me. When my hand can say what it feels The world gets to see me for me Writing gives this to me, The expression to live in this great world The world gets to see me for me Instead of another ingredient in the melting pot's swirls The expression to live in this great world Allows me to have a voice Instead of another ingredient in this melting pot's swirls, My words on this paper are my choice Allows me to have a voice: Debating, arguing, and speaking out My words on this paper are my choice, So you can hear me shout Debating, arguing, and speaking out Only get us so far. So you can hear me shout When my words raise the bar Only get us so far; The choices handed to us When my words raise the bar, Poetry will be become outrageous The choices handed to us, Don't always seem very sparkly, but Poetry will become outrageous To speak quite frankly.
