Words Mean Something

I could write a book

on how you made me feel

but you hated when I put it in words

I could write a song

on summer days with your hand in mine

but you'd tell me to turn it off

I could write a poem

about your laugh and lopsided smile

but you wouldn't read it anyway

you said words are meaningless and empty

but I think that was about your words to me
