Words from the Past

I met you a long time ago

You were friends with that girl

I used to call my BFF

We pulled through middle school

Together we dragged ourselves to

Speech and Debate- until we all left

Endured the hottest days of PE

But even though we talked a lot

Still neither friends nor enemies

Don't quite know why

We stopped saying hi

In hallways as we passed

And in "boring" Chinese class

As I rush out the door

Pushing it out of my mind

I don't even say goodbye anymore

And I'm still afraid to try.
