Words of Smiles and Tears
A little girl maybe 10 years old,
A young heart already feeling full,
Around she looks for some release,
Until finding that words gave her peace.
Dreams of freedom
Illusions of love
Questions of life
Hopes and hugs.
The poems spoke my life,
They kept my secrets,
They listened to hopes,
They comforted my fears.
The years continued to change,
The words followed suit,
Instead of talking love,
They whispered death.
Overcame by darkness,
I wrote it all out,
Stanza after stanza,
Tear after tear.
The poems never left,
My secrets were still kept,
They were all I could trust,
Even when arms were stained red.
They helped me get through,
They were my cruch when I fell,
Times of sorrow and pain
Is what built me up now.
I knew after those days,
It was poetry that would always stay,
That was when I knew myself,
A poet to this day.
