Words Spoken in Silence

My frightened voice hides in the dark.

My words, bouncing around my mind like fingers on a keyboard.

You scream at me, begging me to set you free.

You want to be heard.

And everyday, I repeat the same thing to you.

I want to be heard to.

I try and I try but no amount of force will allow my vocals to let you breathe.

I wish that I could talk with our voice.

But my mind is too shy.

And my throat too clogged.

But hold out a little while longer and one day…

I promise to set you free.
