Ever since the words of Poe
Never have I been the same
Always reading and finding
The words so moving and touching
With each longing day
My love had grown
Simple words written
Words that could set a mood
Ambiguous and mystifying
Never haulting in amazement
Life without poetry
Seems to be no life at all
With words that have meaning
To change an outlook
I write these words to honor
The poets before myself
I write for the love
The enjoyment that every word brings
I write to escape
To travel to places that I have never been
