Work

A new blank page on Wordpad Black blinker staring at me My computer sits on standby, Lonely of my keystrokes and multi-tasking A quick switch from Wordpad to Firefox Facebook comes alive with a full audience Live streaming from friends' updates I can track my boyfriend, from his early morning wall post to his comment on a girl's picture six months ago It's important for me to keep track of who, what, when, and where It is My JOB! News is always taking place and someone has to do the investigating So I sit with bad ergonomics for hours at a time Literally, spying on the recent activities of friends around They keep me entertained and keep me company, When I'm alone... But, I never feel alone Because someone will always be online And time seems nonexistent, when there's always someone posting: Still awake, who's up with me? Hits on the Like button Pokes just for fun I should be working on my paper But I don't feel guilty I'm working on the net, investigating Something called, "Net-Working"

Social networking is something that is very attractive to the current generation of teens, but not everyone understands what makes it so addictive. Your poem answers the question of why social networking plays such a large role in the lives of teens today because you describe how being able to be in constant contact with other people is the main reason why teens connect with social media.
