Work in Progress
I am a work in progress;
Trying to build myself up with every breath,
Trying to wake up, look in the mirror, and say,
“I’m beautiful. I’m smart. I love myself”
I’m trying to be unique
Trying to be self-confident,
Trying to be my friend.
Trying to be outrageous and live spontaneous
I am trying to do what other only dream of,
Trying to see what others only see in maps and pictures,
Trying to know what no one else knows,
Learn as much as I can,
to speak foreign languages,
to solve problems,
and to read books.
I want to be eclectic;
To pick up pieces of culture that others leave behind.
I want to be a legend,
A tale of triumph over the status quo,
and the pursuit of not only happiness, but life.
I want to be remembered.
