Worker Bees
“Shoot for a star,
Even if you don’t make it, you’ll land on the moon.”
The teacher said, like the sky isn’t far.
“Believe, believe, and you will achieve.”
The parents say, like you won’t grieve.
“Progress is progress, no matter how small.”
But don’t make any progress,
And you will fall.
They cheer you on, make you feel great
Until you realize
They're holding a mask over their face
The don’t want bees
That fly away from the hive
They want bees
Who only stay inside
They make these words of ‘wisdom’
But it’s a problem
“You can do this.”
Bosses say, which means you can fail.
"You were born for this."
Coaches say, like there is nothing else for you.
Because all they want
Is worker bees
