Working to change history

We all have our moments is that not what they say then why back then were they forcing our moments away channing our feet and hands together like slaughter meat packed us in ships and took us away families tore a part you cant imagine the pain and rage that went through thier hearts the anguish the guilt the pride stripped from a man constanly told back then it aint right to be black well look at me a black girl living in the 21st century went from kings and queens to picking cotton cleaning houses says yes masta no masta to a black president from high to low then back up again if no one took a stand then where would we be back then we sung songs to show our pride and strength something that whip wouldnt take away as long as we hum thoes hot days wouldntt faze us run away run away here comes freedom land underground railroads traveled by bare feet eyes are the window to your soul well you can see how much my soul has suffered from being called a Nigger and pushed to the back of the bus The past is a ghost, the future a dream. All we ever have is now. Bill Cosby had a say in whats real what now what is our time our past is a ghost yet it still there still clear i could let out my hand and touch it dream dreams are all we have but to close our eyes and wonder whats next what time is it its our time its our life its our dime our future our past makes us who we are we suffered through that we been had our great depression all we could do was lift every voice and sing Chains broken finally were free no more telling me what makes me me i am no longer a number in some book of trade slavery ended but what more do we have where is our future what will be made of us Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. says Dr.MLK everyone say back then it wouldnt couldnt be me we all have our moments is that not what they say were having our moment and today is that day
