The Working Class
Men and women, just like everyone else
No! Not just like everyone else
Men and women, supporting all of us
Each and every, one of us!
Without them, civilization falls
But who are these people?
These are the people
The men and women
Who walk these streets
These halls
Who are disgraced!
The men and women
Who hold this country
No! This planet together
Called hicks, rednecks, idiots
Who can't proudly announce
Hey! I'm part of the FFA!
Or yeah! I'm a farmer or vet
Or florist, greenhouse manager, researcher
Why is it so terrible
To want to be someone who
Affects the world?
Someone who brings food to the table
For billions of people
Someone who makes it possible
For you to go buy those
Shirts, pants, furs, and blankets
That you take advantage of
Who are you to complain of
Fabric quality or synthetic fur?
Never to have skinned or tanned a rabbits hide
Or plowed, fertilized, sprayed, harvested
Acres upon acres of cotton
To get your soft, warm, Aeropostle shirts
So while you're out
Trying to become a rockstar
A celebrity, or athlete
Just remember
Those people making life survivable
Who you were too cool to
Hang out with in high school
Or even think of when you
Chow down on your favorite meal
Or when you slip on your
Favorite outfit
Making life livable
For you and everyone else.
