Workload

Final year of sitting in desks
Of staying up til all hours of night
No more dealing with the tremendous stress
No stinging pain of a failed test's bite

But the weight is heavy this year
Heavier than I have felt all my life
The road to college is a constant fear
The thought brings me overwhelming strife

Yet I do my part and continue to work
Teachers and parents badger about my future
My only thought is to not go berserk
And keep from having a brain rupture

With all the weight on my shoulders
A bearable work load would be nice
Yet still I take home all my folders
Because of teachers with hearts of ice

There was a time when they were in school
When they had to decide their occupation
Was their homework placed on a pedestal?
Was there no time for relaxation?

I know they've felt my pains
I know they have shared my sorrow
The rush of life courses through my veins
My life could be decided tomorrow
But yet i work with full dedication
As I do my homework AND fill out another application
