To the world

I see someone in your eyes.

Hiding themselves in human skin;

Their skin bulges

And fissures.

Slime

Creeps out of their eyes.

Who are they?

They smile,

And all the while,

They are in denial.

They don’t know that the human skin

Doesn’t belong to them.

The skin doesn’t fit.

They can’t breathe.

They want to scream.

They looked in the mirror today.

They watched as the skin bubbled

And popped.

The monster,

Under all that skin,

Looked a lot like me.
