World of Ashes

Sticks and stones are all that remain,
From the nuclear bomb's stain.
This mess was caused by our pride,
And any person that wanted to survive had to hide,
Deep within the crust.
Now all that remains is dust,
Ashes breezing across our sin.
Time passes by along with the wind.
Animals emerging from the hellish radition,
Now are monsters created from mutation.
With little food and water, they were the first,
To venture out, but their symptoms would fall worse.
The pigment in their hair ranged,
Just like the leaves of the fall are a sign of season's change.
So it was, that traveling out, what kept them alive,
In the end would slowly kill them inside.
