A World of Happiness
Born into a world that seems to be full of happiness
I've lived through 2 decades
And I've seen more kids my age dead than in college
Life for a black American teen has gotten much harder
We've chosen drugs, guns and gangs instead of books, fashion and fun
Living in a life where
We used to put our trust in the government
But they chose to plan terroristic attacks against their own people providing weapons of mass destruction to countries that despise us.
We can trust no one not even the people put in place to protect us because they are full of corruption and could care less about us.
The malpractice of doctors causes us not to go.
So we end up sicker than we could've ever imagined
And if we do go the medication they provide causes more harm than good.
We live in a world where a video that portrays a country in the wrong manner sparks wars instead of foreign affairs, resources and domestic issues
We used to be able to go outside and play all day until the street lights would come on because that's when trouble lurked.
Now trouble its present at waking hours and kids aren't safe to take the bus to school because a trigger man is always among us.
Or playing hopscotch on urban side walk ends in a puddle of blood from an innocent child.
Where people are more interested in the Tv than their own kids and wonder why their kids have kids and the cycle begins once again.
Blood sweat and tears have been shed for unity in this country but we fight amongst one another never keeping the peace.
We judge and we fight but we never realize that majority of us have all been in the same place before
We've all been unsure, disgrutal, angry, bitter, insecure, and hurt.
Our situations may not be the same but our feelings are.
Maybe one day we will all see that there's no difference between you and me and the world will be a much happier place.
Maybe if corruption and malpractice were the farthest thing in professional minds this world would be a much safer place,
Maybe if countries weren't so concerned with how others view them the world would be a peaceful place,
I remember when we thought the world was safe.
I remember when we thought the world was happy.
I remember when we thought we could trust.
But remember I live through 2 decades,
and I've survived though the good and still surviving in a world of chaos
Because I was born in a world that seemed happy but isn't anymore.
