World, May I?

I am undefined

I don’t fit into the categories of a future

Scientist, mathematician, or doctor

Where am I to go? Where do I belong?

Too many categories to choose from

This one sounds great and this one seems promising

But do you see what I see?

Is it a part of you like it is a part of me?

The dark blues and the deep reds.

The rich greens and bright whites.

The shadows and the light.

I paint my soul on canvas

And sketch my heart on paper.

But where am I to go?

To the computers and the laboratories?

Click, click, click, click

In the hazy glow

Or may I find comfort and joy in my love?

Can I shed this fear of the unknown?

World, may I? Do I have your permission?
