The World As My Classroom

Airports, for most, a mess of lines and luggages bringing tremendous amounts of stress. From one long line to the next, impatiently awaiting the endpoint of sitting comfortable, or more so, as comfortable as one can get, in the narrow rows and rows of plastic, cramped, somewhat pleasant plane seats. Taking shoes off, clear plastic bags of flight size liquids, gutrenching, almost forgot my passport at home, search for a tiny square book that holds all the identity, sums up the collective impression of every airport.

Then there is me, Taylor. Now in my eyes, airports hold a different light. The moment my two wandering feet land in the encompassment of lines, waiting, and luggage, oddly enough I feel at home. As lines dwindle down, preboarding soars by, and I slide into my new tiny dwelling for the upcoming multiple hours, a huge smile never leaves my face.

See, airports comprise of an entirely different significance than just raising one’s stress tolerance. In the depth of all the mixture of culture, languages, and destination, is the pure illumination of an utterly new beginning. The moment one steps through those doors, there embarks a forever changing journey, leaving with one mindset, returning seeing the world with a fully new set of eyes.

One never fully understands the extreme amount of growth that occurs when put into uncomfortable situations, until a while later, when in hindsight, the person that once was, becomes someone almost unrecognizable. Change, the only constant occurrence within our lives, happening every single day whether it goes unnoticed or not. Commonly showing in a steady, stagnant form, morphing you little by little until times passes and suddenly ideas, beliefs, and that entire once was, molds into new forms.
