The World We Live In

What a sad world we live in
Where we have to struggle to be good enough
Fighting to be like the person next to us
Guess that's just the world we live in

Hope to realize we must do better
Shape our world the way it should
Home of the free
Not home of the scared

Home of the being able to make it home
Not home of another friend
being shot down on the block

Taxes on the poor
While the rich get richer
What happened to treat your neigbor as your brother?
Guess that just America now

Deeper and deeper we go to search for a greater purpose
Deeper and deeper goes the amount of injustice
Equal pay, equal treatment, just livin the good life
No greed for power

Police brutality is not what
what we want to be known for
People dying in service
While we caring bout out our own selfish needs

Tell the truth
About what is going on
Innocent people being slain
Meanwhile mothers crying over graves

Persons vs. Individual
Persons vs. Persons
People scared out their minds
Guess this is just the world we live in

Families being torn apart
Sisters from brothers
Girls from mothers
Custody battles left and right
Stress piled on every day and night

Courts saying they serve the people
But is that really the truth
When we got people suffering from day t day problems
Mass murder, homicide, Guess that America for ya

Americam home of the free and
Home of the brave
Martin and Malcolm turning in their graves
Yes, all lives matter but what
About the significance of BLACK LIVES MATTER

Day in and day out
Victim after victim
When are they gonna start listening to the people
People being penalized for "their own crime"
"Well, they did this and they did that"
Sadly that's the world we live in
