A World Within

The sky lies…
Painting ideologies
Shadows cast in canyons
Warm sunlight kissing trees

Black tattoos on pages
The words run on and on
Inside the world is glowing
As colorful as dawn

Escape within a sentence
The only substance I abuse
Ending the monotony
Of a life I’m born to lose

Each word as pure as water
That falls from somber skies
Flooding my mind with a beauty
That will never bless my eyes

This sight lies within
Some place deeper I can’t find
Where the beauty of a novel
Finds life inside my mind
