For Worse or For Better?
To you, my people I write you a letter - making my choice for not worse, but better.
Thunder, a mother, calls me back home
In the darkest moments of feeling alone
Lightning flashes a passionate grin
Encouraging me, to keep fighting, to win
I am out again, in the human world
Where my brothers and sisters feel only hurt
The blades that slash, the shooting guns
The human species - having their fun.
I beg. I plead. Please won’t you feel?
Their dying cries to hearts of steel
I am lost, in a room with doors only closed,
Surrounded by people, yet completely alone.
Thunder, my mother, calls me back home
In the darkest moments of feeling alone
Lightning flashes a passionate grin
Encouraging me, to keep fighting, to win
Back now again, more on the ground
More broken hearts screaming no sound
Grass that swallows the pain of their life
Drowning in wrongs, but trying to do right.
You killed the one that gave you your life
Your words transforming to poisoned knives
Your love burning in flames of hatred
So much potential, for a new life - wasted.
You slaughtered the grass that cheered you on
You shattered the mother that did you no wrong
You destroyed the air that nurtured your growth
Stabbed in the back, one of your own.
A transformation, not yet complete
Look around you - what do you see?
Open your eyes. Listen to me.
It’s not who you’ve been but who you can be.
The thunder is quiet. The lightning is dark.
You have a choice - together? Apart?
My words on a page, your life in a letter
The decision is yours.
For worse or for better?
