The Worst Part of It All

" What's wrong with me?" That was always her thought That’s what she thought when people called her ugly That’s what she thinks when she looks in the mirror That’s what she thinks when she lies in bed at night "Why doesn’t anyone love me?" That was a question that haunted her mind She thought that when she was laughing with her friends She thought that when she was crying in the bathroom She thought that when she was hurting herself " Why am I all alone?" That’s what she thinks when she's surrounded by people That’s what she thinks when she's wearing the painted smile she's worked so hard to perfect. That’s what she thinks all the damn time She knows she will always be alone. She knows she will never be loved. She knows she's too messed up for anyone to actually care. The most painful part of it all, isn't that she knows. The most painful part is that she pretends to be okay. She pretends she is the happiest person in the world. She pretends she doesn’t need anyone else to make her happy. She pretends she is confident. The most painful but is that she smiles just to stop the tears from falling. The most painful part is that she laughs, but she wants to cry.
