Worth It

They tell us we need it

But somehow can't see that

They make it impossible for us

And because of that we must

Spend hours scouring

Instead of eating, playing, or showering

For free money

And they so "oh honey,"

"I paid for my education back in my day"

"by working minimum wage, I say!"

But they don't understand that things have changed

And businesses have become more deranged

And the devil has set in their minds such a greed

That they raise the prices, they don't care about need

They don't care that now college is how you plant your seed

In the world, unless you wanna be stuck doing something like pulling weeds

Because of this greed, us young people are struggling

Some of us even resort to things like drug smuggling

Just to pay for our overpriced education

They say "all it takes is some determination!"

But what they say is fake

And that's not all it takes

It takes college savings accounts from when we were young

And dealing with terrible teachers who compare you to dung

And sleepless nights working on pointless projects

And dealing with colleges who make you feel like an object

Like a number or a statistic

Who just want you because you're artistic

Or because you have that 4.0

But we all know

They just want you so that the papers look good

They don't care about any of those smart kids in the hood

Opportunity is not something of their care

Only rich kids are left without their hair

Falling out of their heads because of all the stress

That most of us go through just to impress

A mediocre college that wants all of your pay

Because university is the only way today

To have a good life

Without too much strife

You'll still be in debt though

From all the student loans

But it's worth it, right?

Only if you can make it through the terrible nights.
