Worth More Than Gold
I get told that sometimes I'm a brat.
I get told I overreact.
I get told I lack a certain tact.
My talents are never quite exact
from what perfect others always protract.
From life's evenness, I get told I distract.
My paintings are really rather abstract.
And my opinions sometimes
get mixed up with fact.
I find it's hard to keep my side
of the contract.
I often find myself getting sidetracked.
And when life gives a whack,
I fall down hard from the impact.
I get told I'm not all that special,
I'm worthless, broken, cracked.
But, even as I slacked,
My father loves His special, wonderful,
rare artifact.
His law is enact.
His love for me will never detract.
He sees me for who I am,
He sees the tears I'm holding packed.
And He knows I can make it back.
I get told I'm not very bold.
But, He says
that I'm worth more than gold.
